I, Yasin Kanpouri, born in 1938, am proud that I have been working in production of tile and ceramic and improvement of its quality and variety in Iran. I started my business from Shoosh square next to Mahdieh mosque (which is still hear) and entered the industry of tile and ceramic. It is interesting that there was no advanced industry in this area at that time and our molds were wooden type and our press was hand hammers. We made the glazes by hand; tile firing furnaces were traditional and had no modern technical equipment. Although our country was vanguard in the field of production of tile glaze pigment in varied colors such as turquoise, azure, yellow and black compared to many other neighboring states, unfortunately, for some issues, all tile making factories import tile glaze pigments from overseas.
At that time, all tile and ceramic workshops were established in Shoosh square, Razmara street (presently Fadayian Eslam). During the years 1952 to 1963, duo to expansion of residential areas, I and other workers transferred to Ghalemorghi area when I was 16. I leased a workshop when I was 20 (1957) and I started management of the workshop named Apadana. A few years later, factories such as Irana and Saadi started production. From 1952 to 1990 we produce 3cm and then 4cm bricks in Ghalemorghi area. After several years, we started production of glazed ceramics in size 20×5cm which was highly welcomed in Tehran and particularly in southern area of the country. At that time many governmental centers and residential homes used this type of ceramic for facade of the building (for example façade of Tehran Taxi Building). After that we started production of 10×10 tiles which were both glazed and unglazed; the latter was used as anti-acid tile in laboratories. Simultaneous with Irana Co, we started production of 15×15 and then new 10×20 tiles. Finally in 1990, we transferred our workshop to Varamin area and named it Sahand. Our product since 1990 include a wide range such as 4cm, 5.5cm, 7.5cm and … both as yellow bricks and colorful bricks (we are the first inventor of colorful and red bricks) as well as refractory products. Since childhood, I have been active in production and my children work together in this filed. We all know that progress of a nation is based on production. We will do our best under benevolence of the Almighty to be the best in this field. In 2006, using most advanced technology of the word and the European standards, we build an Italian tunnel furnace and a fully automatic dryer which replaced traditional furnaces and increased efficiency and productivity and reduced fuel consumption. This furnace was operated in 2009. We established the QC laboratory in 2010 (which is the most complete laboratory in the area). We recruited specialized workforce and received certificate of application of standard mark of Iran from General Office of Standard and Industrial Research of Tehran. In 2011, we implemented the Quality Management System and managed to receive ISO 9001-2008 certificate and CE self-standard certificate from UK with accredited QAL brand. That year, we purchased various types of refractory soils from the best and highest quality mines of the country and managed to produce bricks in natural varied colors and designs such as Semirom (red), Chamotte (yellow and orange), Black, Brown, Gray, White, Beige and Rustic. We are determined to produce more colors under benevolence of the Almighty and according to the needs of our beloved customers. Today, the successful presence in market and attracting the satisfaction of customers, need a product of high quality with excellent properties compared to similar products.
